Call for Nominations: 2013 Elsevier Exceptional Nursing Educator Award

To show our ongoing commitment to nursing education, Elsevier, the world's leading health science publisher, is pleased to announce our Second annual Elsevier Exceptional Nursing Educator Award. This award recognizes the work of an outstanding nursing faculty member who shows exceptional skill, innovation, and effectiveness in regards to promoting student learning, professionalism, and self-confidence. Entries will be reviewed and judged by a panel of experienced professionals in the nursing field.

Examples of suitable areas of innovations in education include, but are not limited to:
Innovations in curriculum design/development
Unique strategies to engage learners
Successful practices for teaching special populations
Innovative integration of clinical experiences
Unique use of multimedia, technology, and e-learning
Leadership development

All applications become the property of Elsevier. The contents may be used for promotional, editorial, advertising, marketing, and other similar purposes without further notice or any compensation.

The award recipients will be recognized at the Elsevier Faculty Development Conference (formerly the Mosby Faculty Development Institute) in Las Vegas on January 3, 2013. The winner's practice and innovation will be highlighted at the opening of the conference. He or she will receive a $500 prize, complimentary conference registration, airfare, and hotel accommodations.

Eligibility Criteria
Full-time educators teaching in nursing programs are eligible for the Elsevier Exceptional Nursing Educator Award. Nursing faculty must be nominated by the Nursing Dean, Director, Level/Semester Coordinator, or equivalent. By submitting the nomination, the nominator and nominee agree to allow Elsevier to publish the entry information and share the education practice story with other educators.
The winner agrees to attend the Elsevier Faculty Development Conference, January 3-5, 2013 in Las Vegas NV.

Submission Guidelines
Deadline – nominations must be received by October 22, 2012.
Entries must include nominee and nominator contact information, a 100-word abstract/summary describing the nominee's practice, and a 500-word maximum narrative (optional maximum of two pages of supplemental data with photos, charts, data files, etc. will be accepted). The abstract and narrative should describe the educator's innovation and its purpose, along with the results from the implementation of the practice.

Limit of one entry per school.

The 2013 Elsevier Exceptional Nursing Educator Award winner will be notified by November 16, 2012.
